The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.
Take Inventory of Your Products
This week’s assignment is to review and evaluate your supply of organizing products and containers:
- Scan all of the places where you might have stashed organizing products that you bought for previous projects but haven’t used. Gather everything into one location.
- Evaluate each item in your inventory by answering the following questions:
- What’s its condition? Is it clean and in good shape, or could you make it usable with minimal effort? Is it cracked from long use, or is the plastic brittle from age?
- Why aren’t you already using it? Is there something about it that you don’t like? Is the size wrong, or does the design of the item no longer work with your aesthetic?
- What’s the real likelihood that you’ll find a use for the item in the reasonably near future?
- Let go of any item that no longer feels like a good fit for future organizing needs. Many nonprofits or shelters would be happy to receive your donations of items in good condition!
- Clean anything that needs tidying up. Then store what you’re keeping in one place, if possible. Think of this space as your container pantry!
