The Clutter Fairy Weekly #303
Lifestyles in Transition: Get Out of What You’re No Longer Into
Sometimes we lose interest in things we used to appreciate—or we no longer have the time, energy, or physical capacity to pursue and enjoy them. After the thrill is gone, what was once essential gear can become nagging, guilt-ridden clutter. In episode #303 of The Clutter Fairy Weekly, Gayle Goddard, professional organizer and owner of The Clutter Fairy in Houston, Texas, explores how to assess changes in our interests, evaluate the debris thereof, and let go of the old to make room for new passions.
Some content in this episode is based on results of a survey of our audience.
The next selection for The Clutter Fairy Book Club will be New Order: A Decluttering Handbook for Creative Folks (and Everyone Else) by Fay Wolf. Shop for the paperback or ebook at Bookshop.org.

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.
Declutter Your Past Selves
This week’s assignment is to seek out any clutter left behind from the evolution of your interests and lifestyle.
- Identify an item in your home that belonged to a previous season of your life or an earlier version of yourself.
- Reflect on whether this item still serves your current life, or whether you’re keeping it as a memento or museum piece.
- If not you’re actively using or enjoying the item, consider whether you might be ready to let it go to make more space for your current passions and interests.
