Weekly Tittle

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.

Get Specific About Your Goals

This week’s assignment is to dig deeper into one of your priorities to make sure that your goals are clear, realistic, and in service of that priority.

  • Identify an area of focus in your life that you consider one of your highest priorities. For example, “It’s important to me to care for my elderly mother.”
  • Write down specific goals that will help you serve this priority. Some examples:
    • “I’ll visit Mom regularly so I can keep close tabs on her health and level of satisfaction with her life.”
    • “I’ll seek out caregivers with the skills to assist with Mom’s care in the areas I can’t cover.”
    • “I’ll read that book I bought about caring for your elderly parents.”
  • Think about situations in the past that diverted or derailed you from your focus on this priority. For example:
    • “Mom called on Friday to tell me she wanted to have the whole family over for dinner on Sunday, so that became the project for my whole weekend.”
    • “I had to drop everything and make a trip to Sephora for the exact shampoo Mom couldn’t live without for a couple days.”
  • Keep your list of specific goals handy as a guideline by which to decide what to do—and not to do—in pursuit of this priority.
