The Clutter Fairy Weekly #279
Learn from the Past | Clutter on the Go | Default Capsule Wardrobes
What did we do differently at times in our lives when we were less cluttered? What’s good advice for staying organized and decluttered while traveling? Is it still a “capsule wardrobe” if you just happen to wear only a small number of items? In episode #279 of The Clutter Fairy Weekly, Gayle Goddard, professional organizer and owner of The Clutter Fairy in Houston, Texas, reflects on what we can learn from our less-cluttered past and takes up other short topics suggested by our audience.

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.
Lessons to Keep
This week’s assignment is to reflect on what you’ve learned from your decluttering journey as fuel to maintain your commitment to your ongoing projects.
- Reflect on lessons you’ve learned through the course of your decluttering work or that other members of our community have shared with us.
- Jot down three or four statements or affirmations that you’ll use to guide the work that still remains. As an example, here are Dawn’s statements, slightly paraphrased:
- I will pay attention to what I bring into my home.
- I will declutter and refresh one area at a time.
- I will scheduled concentrated times to make headway on specific larger projects.
- I will encourage myself with constant reminders that I’m moving steadily toward my goals.
- Post your list of statements where you can read it each time you’re setting out to work on decluttering and organizing projects.
