The Clutter Fairy Weekly #300

Come Celebrate Episode #300 With Us – And Ask Us Anything!

An audience member asked, “Should you declutter when you’re angry?” Decluttering can be challenging work even when you’re in a great mood, so it’s important to consider the effects of strong emotions on your organizing process. In episode #300 of The Clutter Fairy Weekly, Gayle Goddard, professional organizer and owner of The Clutter Fairy in Houston, Texas, answers viewer and listener questions and discusses short topics suggested by our audience in our surveys and social-media channels.

Some content in this episode is based on results of a survey of our audience.

The next selection for The Clutter Fairy Book Club will be New Order: A Decluttering Handbook for Creative Folks (and Everyone Else) by Fay Wolf. Shop for the paperback or ebook at Bookshop.org.

Weekly Tittle

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.

When You Wish Upon a List

This week’s assignment is to create a wish list for yourself if you don’t already maintain one.

  • Reflect on alternatives to durable, physical gifts that you’d like to receive for gift-giving occasions. What experiences, consumables, or other clutter-friendly gifts would you welcome?
  • Write down your list on paper, in an electronic format that you’ll be able to share, or using the wish list feature of an online shopping site you like to patronize.
  • Share your list with family and friends whenever your birthday or a holiday, anniversary, or other special occasion is coming up.

For the full discussion of this week’s tittle, watch the Weekly Tittle segment on YouTube.
