Survey #312—Full Response from Terry

July 25, 2026
PronounsShe/her
Complete the following sentence: “If an anthropologist from the future could observe the state of my house today, they would be convinced that I collected _____.”numerous books on many different crafts and collectibles
misc jewelry to sell in my vintage shop (I don't have a vintage shop)
Describe an accidental collection that you or someone in your household has assembled, or one that you’ve noticed in someone else’s home.Kits for beading projects - many I aspire to do, but likely never will. Most purchased at a class or online during some big sale. Fortunately, I have sold or given away many of them, so it's a reasonably small collection at this point.
Complete the following statement: “If I had sufficient space and resources, I would love to keep a collection of _____.”It's hard for me to answer this question. I do have a fair amount of space and resources right now. But I'm so aware that this won't last forever and think a lot about scaling down to a smaller space at some point. So I guess my focus would be more: if I had limited space and resources, I'd keep the collection of_____. And I want to be able to display/access the collections I keep. For me, I'd keep the core crafting supplies for a limited set of crafts and let the extra dishes, books, misc collectibles, etc go. And I'd try to winnow down my clothes/jewelry/accessories to those I actively use or really treasure (a lot of progress on that, but more to do).
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode.I've listened to so many of your podcasts - I'm constantly amazed that folks keep coming up with new questions. I've got nothing!
Future topics

I don't know if this is a topic per se. But right now I have some items I'm willing to part with, but I know have some value. Some I'd donate if I thought the charity would get semi-decent money for them, but if they are just going to be purchased for cheap by a reseller, I think I should sell them myself (even if I give the proceeds to charity). But I'm spinning my wheels on actually listing things. I'm actually pretty good at parting with items that I think would sell for under $35-$50, but after that I'm stuck. I think I actually need to schedule a virtual session with Gail to brainstorm, but I have to get into a more solution oriented headset first.
