Survey #296—Full Response from Tiffany
| Describe a paradox, conundrum, or mental trap in which you find yourself as you work to declutter and organize your space. | Gifts from others stop my decluttering in its tracks. I have guilt associated with decluttering gifted items. |
|---|---|
| What’s the most reliable method for getting unstuck when you find yourself trapped in a clutter conundrum? | Simply putting the item in the bag without too much introspection. Once it is in the bag, my mind concludes the decision has been made and no further reflection is required. |
| Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode. | How can I convince others that I no longer want material gifts without threatening their worldview about gift giving? |
| Future topics | How to convince myself that shopping is no longer necessary unless the item is a strict need. We get to a point in life where we really need to downsize so that our loved ones do not have to shoulder the burden of going through a hoard. Decluttering is a significant issue and will always outpace all decluttering efforts unless a true mental shift is achieved. |
