During what period of your adult life was your home the least cluttered? Can you identify anything you did differently then (versus now) that helped keep the space tidy? Our first 2 homes were less cluttered only because we didn't have the money and time to accumulate everything we wanted yet.
What lessons could you learn from your former way of managing your space that might help with your current way of dealing with clutter?- Don't keep everything indefinitely. Stuff should leave, even if it's good stuff.
- Don't buy for a wide selection of options in each category. Choosing favorites is more functional.
When you travel, do you prefer to unpack your bags completely in the hotel room or to live out of them so that nothing gets misplaced? What do you consider the pros and cons of either approach?Live out of my bags.
- Pro: I know where everything is and don't have to figure out how to organize it in this unfamiliar space.
- Con: I have to dig for things.
Please select whichever of the following statements best describes your current wardrobe:I don’t have a capsule wardrobe per se, but I own fewer than a hundred items of clothing and wear all or most of them.
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode.About the wardrobe: I wear a uniform of legging-style bike shorts & A-shirt at home year- round.

For work & errands, I layer over them trousers & a button-up. If I get cold at home, I layer over them a skirt/leggings & button-up.

Except for a couple patterned button-ups & plaid flannels, everything is solid white, gray, black, or purple.

I've got only 3-4 styles of socks, 1 bra, 5 jackets in various weights.

I'm down to spring/summer & fall/winter sets of footwear – slippers, work shoes, yard shoes, sneakers, boots. Plus 2 sets of winter cap & gloves – gray & purple.

It's very nearly a capsule wardrobe, but not yet as tightly-integrated as that. Extremely simple to wear & maintain, though!
