Survey #262—Full Response from Sandra
| Describe a reality check you’ve experienced as you’ve worked to declutter and organize your home—a moment when you realized that your ideas about stuff were at odds with the reality of your life. | I was keeping things from former jobs and relationships that caused me pain just thinking about them! |
|---|---|
| Please share an “Aha!” moment you’ve experienced as you’ve worked to declutter and organize your home—an inspiration or flash of clarity that made the work easier or less emotionally challenging. | The words "Use the good china" finally sunk in. That's when I began decluttering things I did not like and when I actually starting using the good stuff I was saving for later or for special occasions that never happened, |
| Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode. | Do you have clever answers for the non-declutters? For instance, I was telling someone the other day that I was so happy my husband finally accepted getting rid of our CDs (about 100 !), and all I heard was that I was throwing money away. This person was quite disappointed to learn the charity shop would be selling them about $1 each, or maybe less. (FYI - We've had a Spotify subscription since 2015 and my husband was still clinging to our dusty CDs like his life depended on it - maybe another topic...). |
| Future topics | Freebies - just say no. I NEVER used the "free" leather maintenance kit that came with our sofas. Who has the time to do that?? Looking at it made me feel inadequate so out it went too to the charity shop. |
