What is the “canary in the coal mine” that alerts you that your decluttering and organizing habits are starting to slip? In other words, where does clutter first reappear in your life or your home?Stuff piles on kitchen table and office desk. Also, my sewing room is the repository for everything I don't know what to do with or defer making decisions on.
What external factors (conditions, circumstances, situations, etc.) or internal conditions (moods, emotional states, health concerns, etc.) tend to disrupt your productive habits and routines or your motivation to declutter and organize?When work becomes super busy, I let everything but the general cleaning routines slide.
What was the last item that you decided to keep “just in case”?Electronics cord that I have no idea what it goes to.
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s).I struggle to keep my kitchen table clear, even though I have a bin and shelf nearby. I tend to want to see the items so I won't forget them. My GTD (Getting Things Done, David Allen) efforts always break down because I struggle with consistent review, and therefore don't trust my system, thus needing to leave coupons and things out where I'll see them. Any thoughts or tips on how to get consistent in review/learn to trust my system, and/or just how to keep the kitchen table clear?

Have you heard of The Side-Tracked Home Executive from the 80s, a method of using index card filing system to organize cleaning (and decluttering) tasks? Any experience/thoughts on using that?
