Select the categories of clutter that you find most difficult to work on. (Since we discovered the technical issue preventing some users from answering the previous question, we’re also offering this simpler format.)
  • Family heirlooms or other inherited items
  • Items associated with a person/relationship
  • Mementoes and souvenirs
  • Personal papers (letters, cards, etc.)
  • Photographs (printed or digital)
If the category of stuff you find most difficult to work with wasn’t included in the list for the previous question, please describe it here.Movies/CDs, home decor/art, handmade items
For the category of stuff you find hardest to declutter or organize, please tell us about how or why this type of stuff trips you up.Things with sentimental attachment, attachment to the people I care about and are or were in my life, things that evoke memories of times in my life, are the most precious and most difficult to declutter. Especially since I have difficulties with memory - the things aren't just things they ARE the memories, and a photo of an item doesn't give the smell or feel etc of the item that potentially helps evoke memory.
What’s your favorite thing to listen to while decluttering?I watch shows or movies when decluttering usually, and podcasts (clutter fairy being one of the main ones) when I do chores like dishes
