Select the categories of clutter that you find most difficult to work on. (Since we discovered the technical issue preventing some users from answering the previous question, we’re also offering this simpler format.)
  • Personal papers (letters, cards, etc.)
  • Photographs (printed or digital)
  • Reading material (books, magazines, etc.)
  • Supplies and tools for a hobby, art, or craft
If the category of stuff you find most difficult to work with wasn’t included in the list for the previous question, please describe it here. The paper choices were either financial or general. My paper is EVERYTHING...so many notes, etc.
For the category of stuff you find hardest to declutter or organize, please tell us about how or why this type of stuff trips you up.Because there's so much of it. It's easy to get overwhelmed. The goal is to take it in groups in an effort of getting down to the "bare bones" of what I'm going to keep and then the ever-important decision of where it's going to be housed. Hopefully it can stay in one area vs. more. 🙂
What’s your favorite thing to listen to while decluttering?Clutter Fairy podcasts and music. If I really need to think about a particular portion of the project, i need to have it quiet.
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s).I thought of a question in this past week and I don't know if you possibly answered it with last week's topic. In any event, here it is...

I can get excited and glorify the idea of attacking, say for instance a box of files, thinking it's all going to go wonderfully. Then I open the first few files and "Ugh!" goes through my heart and I feel stuck at the actuality of what I'm asking myself to review. What can I do in this situation?

By the way, can you email me the answer too? I'm not able to attend the group right now and I haven't room in my schedule to go through the podcasts. Thank you!

Ways to get the person you live with (i.e. DH) to be supportive of the efforts made. He has not a clutter gene in his entire body! He gets frustrated when I'm not doing well and it looks like a bomb went off on my desk. It would be good to have questions to talk through the issue so we can share our (very different) viewpoints. We've been married for almost 15 years and he made the INCREDIBLE comment that he hasn't change in that entire time. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY disagree. I think I've made A LOT of progress. His view of progress is seeing 50% of my things gone.
