Please select the statement that best describes your future plans with regard to moving:I don’t plan or expect to move ever again.
Describe any thoughts and feelings that the idea of moving invokes for you, or any positive or negative connotations that moving carries. (This might include memories of past moves, plans for future moves, or your experience with someone else’s move that was significant for you.)Moving is a great way to get rid of stuff that you didn’t know you wouldn’t miss. I call it the “driveway test”. I moved to my forever home in 2015. It was just a 125 mile move and we had both houses overlap for a few months so I moved all the breakables , art work, and small furniture in my suv. As I loaded each piece, they each came out of my dark home onto the bright sunny driveway. Was I surprised how many things looked drab, worn, and not fit to earn a place in my new home. They were then stored in the garage until I made my weekly goodwill run. Saved a lot of stress, work, and gas! I sometimes take stuff out of my new sunny house out to the sunnier patio and do the same test. Moral of story. Just because you have had something a long time doesn’t mean it is still earning its place in your home.
Consider the present condition of your home and its contents, and then answer this question: If you had to move from your home in a short timeframe, what would the greatest challenges be?Deciding what to keep.
If money, logistics, work, citizenship, travel time, etc., were no obstacle, where would your ideal place to live be? (For example: Ed would like to live in a penthouse in the heart of Rome with a place in the Alban Hills where he’d go on the weekend. He can dream, can’t he?)I love where I live now in Ocean View Delaware but wouldn’t mind having a second house in Scotland or Italy
