Please select the statement that best describes your future plans with regard to moving:I plan to move within the next year or two.
Describe any thoughts and feelings that the idea of moving invokes for you, or any positive or negative connotations that moving carries. (This might include memories of past moves, plans for future moves, or your experience with someone else’s move that was significant for you.)Stress. Fear. I will likely move out of my high tax state and unsure where to move and how much support I’ll have there. My last real estate sale was riddled with unscrupulous agents so I went through three sales contracts which delayed me a year and cost me dearly. It was also a time like this with sellers’ market (though not for my condo) and lots of homes with deferred maintenance to pick from and bidding wars to get them. At least this time my belongings are thinned down and anything rickety is being moved along now.
Consider the present condition of your home and its contents, and then answer this question: If you had to move from your home in a short timeframe, what would the greatest challenges be?My kitchen and bath need updates and that’s time consuming. If not done, it slows the sal or drastically lowers the price.
If money, logistics, work, citizenship, travel time, etc., were no obstacle, where would your ideal place to live be? (For example: Ed would like to live in a penthouse in the heart of Rome with a place in the Alban Hills where he’d go on the weekend. He can dream, can’t he?)I’d like to live in England—not sure where in the countryside yet. But that won’t happen
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode.I have hardwood floors in red oak. Not fashionable. The living room had been carpeted but needs refreshing. The hardwood below it needs refinishing. My gut tells me to carpet because refinishing in a current style that doesn’t match the adjacent bedrooms won’t look good. The company that redid the bedrooms 23 years ago said they can’t be sanded and redone again so changing colors there doesn’t seem to be an option. Realtors all say laminate is the desired floor but I am unwilling to destroy good wood and sink more money (tackling kitchen and baths this year) for someone else’s decorating dream. Thoughts? Plus, meanwhile carpet is easier to maintain with a dog that sheds like mad.
Future topics

More on the establishing habits to keep up with your decluttered space and also on new habits to keep it clean — since cleaning usually doesn’t happen when the place is cluttered ( in my experience)
