Please select the statement that best describes your future plans with regard to moving:I plan to move within the next five years or more.
Describe any thoughts and feelings that the idea of moving invokes for you, or any positive or negative connotations that moving carries. (This might include memories of past moves, plans for future moves, or your experience with someone else’s move that was significant for you.)Moving is always chaotic. I did get rid of a lot when we moved three years ago. I’ve gotten rid of even more since we’ve lived here even though this house is 30% bigger than the old one. I hope that if/when I have to move again, it will be easier because of all the decluttering I continue to do.
Consider the present condition of your home and its contents, and then answer this question: If you had to move from your home in a short timeframe, what would the greatest challenges be?My husband is now 82 years old and he won’t let me go through the rooms that have his stuff. So they don’t get decluttered.
If money, logistics, work, citizenship, travel time, etc., were no obstacle, where would your ideal place to live be? (For example: Ed would like to live in a penthouse in the heart of Rome with a place in the Alban Hills where he’d go on the weekend. He can dream, can’t he?)I would want one home in a temperate area of the United States, although it’s hard to tell where that would be with the changing climate. And I would want a second home in the southern hemisphere, perhaps New Zealand, where I could go when the weather is better there.
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode. Not sure is you have ever covered this, but I just donated all my mom’s knitting books and tools to a local yarn guild. Next I will be donating a bunch of my quilting books to a local quilting guild. Much more satisfying than donating to a place where the books might never get to crafters.
