In episode #268 of The Clutter Fairy Weekly, Gayle Goddard, professional organizer and owner of The Clutter Fairy in Houston, Texas, continues our discussion of ways in which aging complicates our organizing efforts and the many benefits of reducing our stuff to stay ahead of the aging curve.

Weekly Tittle

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.

Dream Ahead

This week’s assignment is to envision the safe, beautiful, decluttered space where you’ll live your future life.

  • If you didn’t already explore last week’s “Think Ahead” tittle, give it a read it at cfhou.com/tcfw267 and reflect on at least the rudiments of a plan for how your space and belongings will support your goals and dreams for the next years of your life.
  • Write down a few statements to describe your future life in the decluttered space you’re working to create. As a starting point, answer these questions:
    • What will be different about how you spend your time?
    • What new or refreshed opportunities will be available to you?
    • What problems or issues will you have solved?
    • What positive feelings or emotional states will your space invoke?
  • Save this “vision statement” so that you can return to it from time to time to help keep focus on your goals.
