Weekly Tittle

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.

Think Ahead

This week’s assignment is to dig deeper into the question of how your space and belongings could better support your goals and dreams for the remaining years of your life.

  • Write down up to three activities—hobbies, crafts, sports, or other recreational activities—that you’d like to spend more time doing in the coming years.
  • Make a list of any household tasks or activities that you expect or hope to spend less time doing in the future.
  • If you don’t already have a plan for downsizing or moving to a more manageable space, consider whether such a move might be something you’d undertake as you grow older.
  • Now, reflect on what specific changes to your space or your stuff would be required to accomplish the life changes you’re anticipating.
    • What things might you need to subtract from your home to free up space for new activities or to improve safety and accessibility?
    • What things might you need to add to improve functionality, support new activities, or enhance safety and accessibility?
    • What are some of your biggest current obstacles to downsizing or a future move?
  • Save your notes, then revisit this exercise every six months or so.
