The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.
Clean Up Your Cleaning Products
This week’s assignment is to review the status of your cleaning products and take action to right-size the supply:
- Collect all your cleaning supplies (or all those for one specific area of your home) in one place to inventory what you possess.
- Dispose of any products that have expired or that you don’t use anymore.
- Check for leaking or damaged containers and discard them safely. (Always keep cleaning products in their original containers. It’s okay to consolidate two partial bottles of Windex into one Windex bottle, but for safety reasons, never transfer a cleaning product into a container from a different type of product.)
- Evaluate your storage spots to make sure that they’re cool, dry, and protected from sources of heat and sunlight.
- Organize products into whatever storage system works for your need, grouping by product type or usage area.
- Confirm that any bins or containers you’re using to group items are in good condition.
- Return the revamped containers to their designated storage areas.
