From Heirlooms to Ikea: The Role of Furniture in the (de)Cluttered Life (YouTube Video)

Furniture creates a special set of clutter management challenges. Too much furniture or pieces that aren’t right for the purpose or space can make us feel overwhelmed and trapped. The high cost of new furniture and the perceived value of heirloom items complicate our decisions about what to buy, keep, or eliminate. And furniture can be difficult to move, clean, or purge.

At the September 2016 meeting of the Houston Clutter Coaching Meetup, Gayle Goddard, professional organizer and owner of The Clutter Fairy, explored the intersection of furniture and clutter. She talked about how to optimize furniture in the design of your home, “right-size” your collection to help manage clutter, and dispose of pieces that no longer suit your needs.
